Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ on Maze Rattan by Mid Ulster Garden Centre.
Do I need to store away my furniture when not in use?
Maze Rattan design make quality garden furniture at a great price. It is designed to withstand rain, hail, snow and sunlight whilst maintaining a great appearance to give you years of enjoyment. If you have space in your garage or have a furniture cover, it makes sense to do this if possible. The same applies to even the most expensive furniture.
What maintenance is required?
The good news is hardly any! The toughened glass top is easily wiped down and the synthetic rattan can be lightly washed with warm soapy water and rinse off with a hose. This is one of the reasons why this style of furniture has become so popular. We have a Maze Rattan suite on our coffee shop patio at Mid Ulster Garden Centre so we can testify that maintenance is easy.

Mid Ulster Garden Centre sells a wide range of garden furniture including luxury brands such as Barlow Tyrie that can exceed £6,000 per set. Maze Rattan is not top end luxury but is far superior to what you'll find in the big box chains. The most distinguishing feature is amazing value and innovative and comfortable designs that look good in both traditional and contemporary settings. You can make a huge impact in your garden whilst spending modest money. Quality is also very good relative to price. You can get better but be prepared to spend much more.
How long does delivery take?
We aim to deliver within 3-4 days from time of ordering. We carry a large stock and oftentimes you can have your furniture same day or next day for Northern Ireland customers. For items that are non-stock items or special orders, an extra few days or longer may be involved. Stock levels are always changing. We recommend giving us a quick call on 028 796 42324 Ext 2 to confirm availability and receive a precise delivery date with us in advance of placing an order.
Will you give me a discount on Maze Rattan?
As a long established and a premium stockist of Maze Rattan, you can be sure that you will be buying at the best price available in both the UK & Ireland. The advantage of the internet means that can easily compare prices. You should always make sure you are comparing like-with-like when making a comparison. You should also consider delivery information, assembly details, returns policy and warranties. As with any substantial purchase, you should also buy from a long established reputable business such as Mid Ulster Garden Centre.
Will my furniture blow over in the wind?
The 8mm toughened safety glass on the LA and Winchester range adds good weight and sturdiness. Depending on how sheltered your garden is, it is advisable to give consideration to strong winds. Even the most expensive furniture can blow over or heavy surrounding objects can fall on top.
You may consider using bungee cords or strapping system to tie and brace your furniture together.
Can replacement glass be purchased for my Maze Rattan set?
Yes, depending on stock levels at Maze Rattans warehouse in Suffolk. You may also wish to price a replacement piece with your local glazer as this will save on transport costs. Just make sure that you ask for toughened safety glass in the correct thickness.
Can my Maze Rattan cushions be left outside?
Maze Rattan cushion covers are machine washable at a 30 degree wash. The cushions will take a shower of rain now and again. However, Mid Ulster Garden Centre recommends that the cushions be taken inside when not in use. Please take inside when bone dry. Never store away a damp cushion as this will encourage mildew.
Interestingly, Maze Rattan chairs are cleverly designed so that you can still sit very comfortably in the chair without a seat pad.
Do I need a cover?
Not a strict requirement. However, in our experience most of our customers do invest in a quality cover especially for the winter months or store it away in a garage (space permitting).
Covers are available in a range of sizes and colours.
A cover will also help to keep off atmospheric dirt and grime. Having said that, the furniture is easily cleaned with warm soapy water and rise off with a hose.
Can my parasol be left up when not in use?
Definitely not. Parasols are 'fair weather' accessories to keep the sun out of your eyes and minimise reflection from the glass table tops. Even if a sturdy base is used, a sudden gust of wind can blow the parasol out of position. This can put strain on the spokes of the parasol and possibly break them and even tip the table over. Please note that repeated wetting and drying of the parasol fabric may cause mildew spots over time. They are better taken inside when not in use.
Why does the weave directly below table top temporarily sag when hot?
This is caused by the magnification of the suns rays via the clear glass top. It is a temporary and occasional occurrence during summer time when the sun is more intense and prolonged. When temperatures cool in the evening the weave will spring back to its normal position. It should be noted that this is one of the characteristics of synthetic rattan and does not affect the weave or durability in any way. It is not a quality issue and the same can be seen on very high end rattan tables and clear glass tops.
Do Maze Rattan sets include parasols and bases?
We prefer to offer these as optional extras as not everyone requires them. Many UK and Irish customers want to soak up as many rays as possible.
For those who do prefer a parasol, they are available in a wide range of colours, shapes and sizes to suit a variety of tastes and budgets. A cheaper parasol is often adequate providing it is well looked after (see above). We always recommend a decent base to secure the parasol. However, if you can stretch to a more expensive parasol it will offer better looks as well as greater strength.
What does the warranty cover?
The warranty includes use within a domestic (non-commercial) setting. It is a structural warranty so this includes the strength the integrity of the frame. It also assumes that users have taken due care and attention as regards looking after the furniture in a reasonable way. All chairs are hand woven. The unravelling of weave is not covered. This is rare but should it occur, it is easy to repair at first sight rather than allow it to get worse. Please see this link as to how to go about it.
