We currently have two vacancies in our plant department. 

1. Garden Centre Plant Department Manager (Full-time, Permanent)
We are seeking a Plant Area Manager full-time to join their established Plant Area team that is known locally as providing a high quality and beautifully presented plant displays. Therefore to help in recruiting we are looking for someone who can combine good leadership skills with an impressive knowledge of plants and gardening with excellent customer service skills. This is a very 'hands on' role where you will lead by example. You will mostly be working outside - moving and displaying plants, plant care & maintenance, and of course delivering great customer service. 
Key duties

Achieving company targets and objectives maximising the potential for the site
Providing support training and guidance to the team where necessary
You will ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly maintenance duties are carried out and done to a high standard
You will create dynamic displays, which encourage customer sales.
You will confidently answer customer queries, and be knowledgeable about planting combinations and looking after plants. You will accurately check off paper work on both incoming and outgoing deliveries. You will accurately attach price labels to stock and will be responsible for ensuring that Point of Sale signage information is done to a high standard..
Responsible for Health and Safety compliance in your department
When needed you will assist in other areas of the business, including working on the till and any other duty reasonably required. 
 
Your capabilities 

You will have natural leadership skill where you can work effectively as part of a wider team and be able to motivate yourself and others. You'll have a passion for plants. You must be able to thrive in a fast paced environment, be commercially aware and understand how to care for plants in a retail environment.
You understand what makes a high quality shopping experience for your customers.
You are creative, and know effective planting combinations.
Working with

Report into Company Directors
Work closely with Assistants & Experts in the Plant Area.
Occasionally work with other managers and office staff.
 
Requirements

Horticultural experience essential, whether that's in the form of a relevant qualification and/or experience of working in a garden centre, plant retail or a similar environment.
Good plant knowledge - essential
Fantastic communication and people skills

A proven track record of leading teams in the garden centre or similar industry
A passion to achieve exceptional results

A willingness to go the extra mile with a flexible approach to daily tasks customer service & communication skills - essential 
Good knowledge of Health and Safety within context of a garden centre plant area
You'll need to work four days a week, including one alternating day at the weekend.
You'll need to work some bank holidays (as part of a rota with other assistants), but will be given a day's holiday in lieu.
 
Rewards and Benefits

Salary £20k - £25k depending on skills and experience. In addition you will receive the following benefits:
Discount - after one year employees are entitled to receive a 30% discount for the garden centre (some exceptions apply).
Paid holiday - holiday entitlement is 20 days per year, plus bank holidays. 
Part-uniform provided
Opportunity / option to travel with director on plant buying trips to England, Italy and The Netherlands. 
2. Garden Centre - Plant Department Customer Assistant (Full time, Permanent)
We are seeking a Plant Area Expert full-time to join their established Plant Area team that is known locally as providing high quality and beautifully presented plant displays. Therefore to help in recruiting we are looking for someone who can combine an impressive knowledge of plants and gardening with excellent customer service skills. You will mostly be working outside - moving and displaying plants, plant care & maintenance, and of course delivering great customer service.

You will undertake daily watering and stocking up of the outdoor plant areas.
You will create dynamic displays, which encourage customer sales.
You will confidently answer customer queries, and be knowledgeable about planting combinations and looking after plants. You will accurately check off paper work on both incoming and outgoing deliveries. You will accurately attach price labels to stock and assist with Point of Sale signage information.
When needed you will assist in other areas of the business, including working on the till and any other reasonable duty within the wider business .

Hourly wage £7.50 - £8.50 per / Hr depending on skills and experience . In addition you will receive the following benefits:
